Southern Pulled Pork
This Southern pulled pork recipe is a classic. The pork shoulder is slow-cooked to perfection in a tangy and sweet barbecue sauce, making it tender and full of flavor.
Ingredients:
- 4-5 lbs pork shoulder or butt roast
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
Mix barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl
Place pork roast in the slow cooker
Pour the sauce mixture over the pork roast
Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-5 hours, until pork is tender and falls apart easily
Once done, remove pork from slow cooker and shred using two forks
Return shredded pork to the slow cooker and stir well to coat with the sauce
Serve on buns or as desired
