Quick Vegan Pita Bread
Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions:
Salt, sugar, instant yeast, and whole wheat flour should all be mixed together in a large bowl
Warm up some olive oil and add it to the dry blend
Mix until you get a dough
On a floured surface, knead the dough for five to seven minutes, or until it gets smooth and stretchy
To make the dough double in size, put it in a bowl that has been greased and cover it with a clean kitchen towel
Let it rise in a warm place for about an hour
Start by heating the oven up to 450F 230C
Make eight equal pieces of dough and roll each one into a ball
Spread each ball out on a floured surface and roll it into a circle that is about 1/4 inch thick
Put the circles of rolled-out dough on a baking sheet that has parchment paper on it
The pitas should be baked in a hot oven for 5 to 7 minutes, or until they puff up and turn a light golden brown color
Take it out of the oven and let it cool down a bit before you serve it
